Student Homestay Application

Host Family Application

Homestay programs  are available for students who want to live with an American family. The family setting provides a great opportunity for students to learn about American traditions and customs. Homestay encourages students to  practice informal English with native speakers on a daily basis in an  informal setting. The students have a rich experience in American  culture.

When you live with an American family you are able to  practice your English every day! You quickly learn American customs and  traditions - it's much more fun that just learning it from a book!  Students usually stay with a host family for at least one academic  quarter.

In your homestay home, you will be provided a bed and a  comfortable place to study. You may have to share a bedroom, and will  probably have to share a bathroom. Your host family will see that you  have everything you need to be comfortable.

When you live with a  host family, they provide your lunch and dinner meals. They also allow  you to use their washing machine and dryer to clean your clothes. It is  also the host family's job to make sure that you are able to get to  school by car or bus.

Many American families live in single family homes. These homes usually have 3 or 4 bedrooms, 1 to 2 bathrooms, a living room, a dining room and  kitchen, a garage, and a backyard. Interested in living with an American family?  Click here for more details!

Apartment  living is enjoyed by many university students. The university is  surrounded by many low cost apartments which are within walking distance to the campus and shopping. Bakersfield has an efficient and safe  public transportation system and the number of special bicycle paths is  increasing rapidly.
