CSUB was founded on the philosophy that education is not limited to a formal classroom setting. The Residence Halls are an integral part of the educational process.

Resident students have the unique opportunity of experiencing a small collegiate community where social interaction with other students and with faculty members is encouraged.

There are other important benefits to living in the residence halls. Developing good study habits encouraged by residence staff can translate into success in the classroom. Nationally, surveys have shown that residence hall students maintain higher GPAs than their off-campus peers. Easy access to the library and to study rooms creates a beneficial learning environment. Tutoring is available from the nearby Academic Assistance Center.
