Social Sciences Teacher Preparation Program

Important Program Policies

Eighty-Percent Policy and GPA requirements

CSUB's single subject credential program allows students to begin coursework when 80 percent of the subject matter program has been completed. To secure certification of 80 percent completion in Social Science, students must have completed 15 courses, including all courses in the required core, with a grade of C- or better, and must have earned a minimum grade point average of 2.7 in all courses taken for the Social Science Program.

Double-Counting Courses

Please note that no double-counting is allowed within the Social Science program. However, students may double count a course for the Social Science program and a requirement in the major, the minor, or for general education.

Currency of Courses

All courses applied to the Social Science program must have been taken within ten (10) years of completion of the program. Courses taken more than 10 years ago must be recertified. See the Social Science Coordinator for the policies governing recertification (661-654-2166).
