New History Course to Explore
American Indian History
In Winter 2007, Dr. Douglas Dodd will offer a new course, HIST 467: American Indian History. This course will examine the history and culture of Native Americans north of Mexico, from the colonial period to the present. It will emphasize cooperation and conflict in relations between American Indians and Euro-Americans, the evolution of the United States government’s Indian policies, and Indians’ long struggle to survive—both physically and culturally—in the face of Euro-American conquest. American Indian History satisfies the Gender, Race, and Ethnicity course required for both graduation and the history B.A.
