John Gilbert (MA 2008) took an early retirement on 30 November 2008 and returned to his home state of Utah. In January 2009, he began the Masters in Library Sciences program via San Jose State University's Special Session.
Pauline Larwood (MA 1976) was inducted into the CSUB Alumni Hall of Fame on March 14, 2009. She works as a government relations consultant and is serving her third term as trustee of the Kern Community College District. She is also a member of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges and served for 12 years on the Kern County Board of Supervisors. In 2007, Garden Pathways, Inc. named her 2007 Woman with a Heart for Bakersfield.
On November 22, 2008, Ty Rose (BA 2006, SS Credential 2008) married Amy Niday (BA English 2008) at the Historic Fort in Taft, Ca. Ty is currently substitute teaching for the Kern High School District. Joseph Andreotti (BA 2006) played the music for the ceremony. Joseph and his wife Jenny, both teachers, have a band, The Grizzly Owls, and Ty has a burgeoning photography business, Frame and Canvas Photography.
