CSUB HEP activity board Image The HEP Program through California State University, Bakersfield will consist of a combination of commuter and residential summer programs, designed to meet the educational needs of out-of-school migrant and seasonal farm workers youth and adults. The classroom sited are located in McFarland, Shafter, and Arvin. We will also service the communities of Delano, Lamont, Wasco and Bakersfield.

 

 

 

 

CSUB is committed to addressing the educational, developmental needs and improvingthe quality of life of migrant students. CSUB HEP student picture boardCSUB has demonstrated record of reaching out to disadvantaged, under-served and underrepresented Latino and migrant student populations. Largely due to CSUB President, Tomas Arciniega's drive to make CSUB more responsive to and representative of its service region, over the past 15 years, the portion of CSUB students of Latino orgin has increased from 11.4% to 32.6%. As of fall 1999, the freshman class enrollment at CSUB was over 45% Latino, and a substantial proportion are from migrant and seasonal farmworker families.
