HOW TO BE A STUDENT AND STILL HAVE A LIFE

Homework! Exams! Work! Sports! Friends! Family! Are you trying to balance school with the rest of your life and getting STRESSED in the process?! Take a look at the following tips before you get too anxious!

Everyone feels stressed at times, your friends, your teachers and you! A little stress can be good but too much can ruin your mood, your day and even your performance in school.

You Know You are Stressed if…

You are not sleeping well.

You forget important things.

bullet

You feel nervous and out of control.

bullet

You get sick a lot.

bullet

You want to run away.

If stress has taken over your life it’s time to take action!

Take a Time-Out when Stress Hits

Breathe slowly in and out. Close your eyes and picture your favorite place. Taking time to regroup can help you get a handle on stress!

Walk around the block. Clear your head.

Take Time for You

bullet

Eat Well. It will help you handle stress better.

Exercise! It’s one of the best ways to cope.

Don’t use drugs including alcohol. They are likely to cause more stress.

Share your Problems with Friends and Family

Talk things over with someone close. Ask for help.

Find study mates and share dinner with someone.

Try to get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. Without sleep you can’t make good decisions.

Plan ahead to avoid being too busy

Take it One Day at a Time.

If you feel you can’t get through it alone, visit the CSUB Health Center or Counseling Center.
