Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

All proposed uses of animals in teaching and research at CSUB must be submitted to the IACUC for review. xxxx specifies that these activities may not begin until they have been authorized by the university IACUC.

The principal investigator on every IACUC protocol, as well as others having substantial contact with the animals must be certified as having appropriate training in the Humane Care and Use of Animal Subjects (HCUAS). Training materials for this purpose are available online HCUAS Training.

Proposed use of animals for either teaching or research are submitted to the IACUC in a specific IACUC protocol format IACUC Submission Materials and reviewed by the IACUC at quarterly meetings in January, April, June, and September. Submission deadlines are announced to CSUB faculty and generally fall early in the months of January, April, June, and September.
