A. I want to collect data from vulnerable persons [for example homeless persons, prisoners, certain clients receiving services, certain patients].

B. Participation in my proposed activity could create greater than minimal risk for my participants [for example data from employees to be shared with management, information from undocumented aliens].

C. Participation in my proposed activity could create greater than minimal distress for my participants [for example discussing the death of a person close to them].

If either A or B or C is true, submit materials for either “Expedited Review” or “Standard Review”. Discuss the appropriate level with the Research Ethics Review Coordinator [Steve Suter, Psychology Department, DDH H-114, 661 654-2373, ssuter@csub.edu] prior to submission. You may proceed with your research when you have received an authorization letter from the IRB.

If neither A, B, or C is true, go to Step 2
