Masters of Arts in Social Work


The California Social Work Education Center (CalSWEC) provides financial support to selected students who plan to work in public child welfare. Contact program for details.

Characteristics of the Program

  • Full-time program on the Bakersfield campus.
  • Part-time program on the Bakersfield campus.
  • Advanced Standing program for qualified BSW graduates.
  • Low student/faculty ratio.
  • Individual attention from experienced social work faculty and professionals.

Admission Requirements

  • A completed university application form through CSUMentor
  • Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university that includes liberal arts foundation significantly equivalent to the general education requirements listed in the catalog.
  • An undergraduate GPA of at least 2.5 in the last 90 quarter or 60 semester units of course work.
  • Official sealed copies of transcripts from all colleges attended.
  • A personal statement completed according to guidelines in the application packet.
  • Three letters of reference.
  • A Resume.
  • Computer literacy is expected.
