Merit Award Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen Majoring in Geology and Scholarships for Current Students
Incoming freshmen majoring in geology that meet certain requirements are eligible for CSUB's Merit Award Scholarships.
These scholarships award $5,000 over four years. Applications for Fall 2008 are due March 14, 2008.
In addition to the general merit scholarship program there are several scholarships that are specifically set
aside for geology majors or of special interest to geology majors including
* H. Victor & Virginia C. Church Scholarship
* Theodore David Decker Memorial Scholarship, and the
* Jeanette Haskin Endowed Scholarship for Women in Science

New and current geology students are also eligible for scholarships funded by the National Science Foundation.

Geology juniors and seniors who want to become high school science teachers are eligible for scholarships through
the Math and Science Teachers Initiative. This includes stipends of up to $6,500 over two years and up to $19,000 in
forgivable loans for graduates who work for four years for the Kern High School District. More information can

Finally, we also have several scholarships supporting student research of existing students,
including the C.E. Strange Scholarship and the Herman H. Weddle Scholarships.
