Dr. Dirk Baron
Department Chair
Professor of Geology
Science II, room 333
661-654-3044
email
Dr. Baron's expertise is in aqueous geochemistry and
hydrogeology. His research focuses on the behavior of trace
elements like chromium and arsenic in pristine and contaminated
soils and groundwater.

| |
Dr. John R Coash
Professor of Geology, Emeritus |
| |
Dr. Robert Crewdson
Professor of Geology, Adjunct
|
|
Dr. Jan Gillespie
Professor of Geology
Science II, room 339
661-654-3040
emailDr. Gillespie's research interests are the
subsurface architecture of petroleum reservoirs and groundwater
aquifers and the movement of fluids through them. She is also
interested in using the aquifer/reservoir architecture to
reconstruct past depositional environments and tectonic settings.

|

|
Dr. Robert Horton
Professor of Geology
Science II, room 357
661-654-3059
email
Dr. Horton is currently studying diagenesis and
porosity development in San Joaquin basin sandstone
reservoirs. He also serves as director of the California Well
Sample Repository. His teaching interests include sedimentary
petrology, mineralogy, geochemistry and science education.
|
|

|
Dr. Wallace Kleck
Lecturer in Geology
CSUB, Antelope Valley Campus
email
Dr. Kleck's research interests include Columbia River Formation
basalts, viscosity and density of pegmatite magmas, buoyancy
of plagioclase in the skäergaard body and the geochemistry of the
zeolites. Dr. Kleck teaches at the Bakersfield Campus and the
Antelope Valley Campus.

Dr. Edward Laskowski
Professor of Geology,
Emeritus
|
|
 |
Dr. Staci Loewy
Assistant Professor of Geology
Science II, room 338
661-654-2550
email
Dr. Loewy studies the tectonic evolution of the continents using
structural geology, geochemistry, geochronology and igneous and
metamorphic petrology. Much of her research has focused on
reconstructing the ca. 1 billion year old supercontinent, Rodinia.
New projects are focused on the evolution of the Southern Sierra
Nevada and San Joaquin Valley. |

 |
Dr. Patrick
Mickler
Lecturer in Geology
Science II, room 332
661-654-3281
email
|
|

|
Dr. Rob Negrini
Professor of Geology
Science II, room 276
661-654-2185
emailDr. Negrini's research and
teaching interests include the behavior of the earth's magnetic
field, paleoclimatology, shallow subsurface geophysical exploration,
structure and tectonics.
|
|

|
Dr.
Peter Wigand
Professor of Geology, Adjunct
emailDr. Wigand's current research emphasis is focused
on the reconstruction of past vegetation communities and the
climates that affected them. Using palynological and plant
macrofossil expertise's, he is investigating high-frequency
Pleistocene/Holocene climatic change in the Great Basin and the
Mojave Desert and its effect upon plant community dynamics, and the
native peoples that depended upon the resources in theses
communities. He is also exploring comparisons of these finding
with other arid regions such as most recently the Middle East.
