Hello! My name is Isabel Sumaya and I am the Director of the First-Year Experience Program. Not only do I direct the FYE program, I am also faculty in the department of Psychology and teach courses about the brain and how it is truly the center of your universe.

The thing I have in common with all of you is that I graduated CSUB (just as you will) with my BA in Psychology in 1994 and my Masters in Psychology in 1996. I went on to get my Ph.D. in Biological Psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2001, and completed a post doctorate at Northwestern Medical School prior to coming back to my alma mater, CSUB, in 2002. I love working with the FYE program because it allows me to assist and interact with first-time freshmen with the hopes of forming long-lasting relationships with students until they graduate.
