Self-Paced Prerequisite Courses

For prospective MBA students who completed a bachelor’s degree in a major other than Business Administration, there are likely to be some prerequisite foundation courses to be taken before starting the MBA courses. The CSUB MBA program is introducing low cost, self-paced, non-credit versions of these courses, to help students who want to qualify quickly.

Each course takes 15-20 hours to complete and you have one to up year for completion.

1. Determine Needed Prerequisite Courses
Provide copies of your college transcripts to the BPA Student Services Office for evaluation to determine which prerequisites you need to complete.

2. Register for Needed Courses through Extended University
The fee is $150 for each course. After you register, you will receive a syllabus, which includes the instructions and password that you will need in order to take the assessment exam.

3. Take the Assessment Exam On Line
A score of 80% or higher on the Assessment Exam indicates mastery of the subject matter and the prerequisite is considered to be completed.

4. Complete Self-Paced Course Materials
The vast majority of those who take the Assessment Exam will score less than 80% and will be directed to a website to order course materials. The materials cost $50 per course plus shipping. They include a CDROM and a brief textbook.

5. Take the Final Exam On Line
This is a pass/fail exam. There are no grades and no course credit for these courses.
