Why earn a certificate from CSUB's Extended University?
With a certificate from CSUB's Extended University you can:
Position yourself for a promotion or for marketing yourself to prospective employers, update your skills through a focused, comprehensive educational experience, study with excellent instructors drawn from the University, business, and industry

What is the difference between a certificate program and an academic degree?
CSUB's certificate programs offer concentrated subject matter that can be completed in less time than an academic degree. You will walk away with skills you can use immediately. Although most certificate programs do not carry degree-applicable credit, they are evaluated and approved by the corresponding college on campus. Two programs, the Classroom Management Certificate Program and the Managing Human Resources Certificate Program, can be used to satisfy a specific academic course that is part of a degree or credential program.

What are the benefits of a certificate?
Completion of a university-based certificate program demonstrates to current and future employers that your are serious about your future and committed to professional advancement. It also conveys mastery of a specific body of knowledge or skill. If you are thinking about a job change, a certificate program can sometimes provide the edge you need to move into a new career path.

Who teaches the certificate courses?
Our certificate courses are taught by people who are especially well qualified for the subject matter. Sometimes they are university faculty; many times they are practitioners working within the professional field.

How long does it take to complete a certificate?
Certificate programs vary in length, and most of them can be completed within a year. Of course, you can take classes to fit your schedule so the pursuit could extend beyond one year.

I work during the day. Can I take classes in the evening?
Yes! All certificate programs are offered in the evenings or on weekends to accomodate those who work a standard 8:00 am to 5:00 pm job.

When can I start a certificate program?
You can start most certificate programs any quarter. Some programs, though, start only in the Fall quarter.

In financial aid available?
Yes, CSUB's Extended University has partnered with P.L.A.T.O. Loans to provide you with the opportunity to have help in paying for your continuing education. Go to www.plato.org for more information.

Do I receive an actual certificate?
