Plan to contact the printer with your ideas and to confirm time frame and ability to print your design. You will need to e-mail them the invitation text and image and then drop off the paper invitations and envelopes (that is when the printer can show you a proof).
It is a good idea to request that the printer print the return address on the envelopes so that you have less work when you're assembling invitations.
