CSUB Campus-wide Events
Cal State Bakersfield hosts many Community events on campus and off-campus. CSUB is proud to support the Bakersfield community and showcase different local causes, anniversaries, charities and much more.
Grapes of Wrath
Beginning in October 2013 and continuing throughout 2014, the School of Arts and Humanities at CSU Bakersfield will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Steinbeck’s classic novel about the Dust Bowl migration to California. An exciting schedule of public events will connect the cultural legacy of The Grapes of Wrath to the region across many forms: film, music, theatre, art, literature, history, philosophy, language and religion.
John Brock Dinner
The John Brock Dinner is held annually as a prestigious Community Service Awards Ceremony.
The sponsoring organization of this event is the CSUB School of Business and Public Administration Executive Advisory Council. The council is comprised of approximately 25 business and community leaders who provide advice and support to the school.
Proceeds from the event help to fund the John Brock Endowment, which provides scholarships for students in CSUB's School of Business and Public Administration. Scholarships are presented at the dinner to recipients.
Award recipients in the dinner's 20-year history are Lou and Sheryl Barbich, Gregory Bynum, Jim Burke, Morgan Clayton, Joan Dezember, Ray Dezember, John Forney, Don Hart, Jimmie Icardo, Bob Karpe, George Martin, David Parker, Robert Price, John Pryor, Rev. Glenn Puder, Mary K. Shell, Jerry Stanners, Joe D. Stevenson, Ray Watson and, the inspiration for the award, John Brock, Sr.
Tickets for the event can be purchased from CSUB School of Business and Public Administration. Corporate table sponsorships are also available. For further information and tickets, call (661) 654-2157.
