The California State University, Bakersfield, Alumni Association creates and maintains a partnership among alumni, the University, and the community.
The Association encourages alumni to promote and support the image, activities, and programs of the University within the community. By doing so, the Association provides the alumni with services, benefits, and opportunities for continued affiliation with the University community.
Currently the Alumni Association puts on two major events in the year:
In 2006, the Alumni Association along with University President Horace Mitchell created the CSU Bakersfield Alumni Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is intended to recognize alumni who have made significant contributions in their chosen field of endeavor and/or in their community, and whose accomplishments and careers have brought honor and distinction to the University. We recognize these outstanding alumni annually at a black-tie gala (the first one was in 2007).
Much research and time is taken each year to select the Hall of Famers and it has become a well-respected award to receive. Please take the time to look over the recent CSUB Hall of Famers.
As of 2013, CSUB has a proud 38,000 alumni with 19,000 living in local Bakersfield.
CSU Hill Day
CSU Hill Day is a briefing in Washington D.C. in the Spring of each year. Alumnus Congressman Kevin McCarthy (BS Marketing ’89, MBA ’94) has been a gracious host in past years. In 2013 President Mitchell was honored to introduce Majority Whip and Congressmen Kevin McCarthy to address the full CSU delegation. His presentation was regarded as outstanding and well-received. Dr. Mitchell and CSU Bakersfield continue to advocate for the CSU System Priorities.
CSU Bakersfield continues to strengthen their relationship with the east coast CSUB alumni. Each year a reception and dinner is held for CSUB alumni in the D.C. area as well as a CSU alumni reception in New York.
