Advancement team adds 2

Michelle Hines

Michelle Hines is the new director of annual giving for CSUB.

Hines comes to the university after two years as the enrollment services director for San Joaquin Valley College. Hines earned her bachelor's degree from University of Phoenix in 2003 and her master's in administration from CSUB in 2005. She is working to increase current goals in annual giving.

"We will be working very hard to double the support from alumni over the next two years," she said. Hines is looking forward to working with students and the campus community. "I just love working for CSUB there are a lot of wonderful people working here."

Michelle Hanna

Michelle Hanna has been hired as CSUB's new prospect researcher in the university advancement department.

She comes from the National Glass Association in Virginia having worked in several areas including education and training. She also spent two years as part of the development and marketing team at the Lupus Foundation of America.

She earned her bachelor's in mass communications from the University of Utah.

Vincent Rojas awarded President's Medal

Vince Rojas, left, with President Horace Mitchell received the CSUB President's Medal for 2006.Vincent Rojas, president and chief executive officer of Kern Schools Federal Credit Union, has been honored as the 2006 recipient of the CSUB President's Medal.

Rojas was presented his medal at CSUB's annual President's Associates Dinner at Seven Oaks Country Club.

"It is an honor to present this fine individual with the President's Medal for 2006," said CSUB President Horace Mitchell. "The medal is awarded for leadership, commitment and service to the community. His devotion to advancing education and enhancing the quality of life in Kern County is symbolic of this award."

Prior to becoming president and CEO of Kern Schools Federal Credit Union in April 1989, Rojas served as loan manager, assistant general manager and executive vice president. He began his career at the credit union in 1976.

Rojas was born and raised in Bakersfield and attended Garces Memorial High School. He received his bachelor's degree in political science from St. Mary's College in Moraga. He also attended Western Credit Union National Association (CUNA) management school at Pomona College, CUNA financial management schools I and II at the University of Colorado, the California Credit Union League's executive development program, Stanford University and the Graduate School of Business.

Rojas has a deep interest in education and serves as a board member for the CSUB Foundation as well as the Bakersfield College Foundation.

Rojas is also heavily involved in community service and organizations. He is an advisory board member for CSUB's School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and is on the board of governors of CSUB's Kegley Institute of Ethics. He also served as past president of the Bakersfield West Rotary Foundation and was past chair for the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce. Rojas has been a member of the Credit Union Executive Society since 1978.

He and his wife Linda have two daughters, Ashlee and Angela.
