Dean makes headlines

Henry Lowenstein, dean of CSUB’s School of Business and Public Administration, is making national headlines. A story published in the Wall Street Journal in August reported Lowenstein has been added as an outside director to the board of directors for the Tri-Valley Corp. of Bakersfield, an oil and natural gas company.

The Journal said Lowenstein was chosen because of his “broad background in business, academe and public service.”

F. Lynn Blystone, president, chief executive officer and the only inside director of Tri-Valley Corp., said the dean will be a strong asset: “We believe Dr. Lowenstein will certainly add to our capabilities to deliver results for our shareholders and drilling partners.”

Lowenstein has also been featured on The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International’s (AACSB) e-newsline. He recently returned from a City of Bakersfield sister city visit to Queretaro, Mexico, where he met with four universities to establish academic relationships and made a presentation on behalf of AACSB.

Lowenstein and CSUB President Horace Mitchell were part of a 40-person delegation representing the Bakersfield and Kern County to formally establish a sister city relationship with the 474-year-old city, about 100 miles from Mexico City.

Lowenstein said the recent coverage “has really gotten the school and CSUB's name out there in the press around the world.”
