The California State University, Bakersfield Geology Club is hosting renowned geologist Jason Saleeby, professor at California Institute of Technology, on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 4:00 p.m. in Science Building III, room number 104.
Saleeby was behind the studies that discovered the fault running under the Lake Isabella Dam. His presentation will include information on the fault's activity and evolution of the lower crust and upper mantle beneath the Southern Sierra in the San Joaquin Basin.
"Dr. Saleeby is one of the top geologists from Caltech who has done a lot of work in our area," said Dirk Baron, CSUB physics and geology professor. "This event will be interesting not only to students and professional geologists, but also anyone interested in the studies that have been conducted in the Lake Isabella area."
The lecture is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information contact Baron at (661) 654-3044.
