California State University, Bakersfield will host an Education Recruitment Fair, Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the CSUB Student Union. The event is open to the public and gives those interested in a teaching career the opportunity to meet with school districts from Kern County and beyond. The fair focuses on future employment opportunities as well as teacher retention and quality.

This year's event will feature more than 35 school districts wishing to speak with students who are close to earning a degree in the field of education or graduates who have already earned a teaching credential. Last year's event brought more than 150 interested students together with school district representatives allowing each an opportunity to speak first-hand about potential employment opportunities. This year event organizers hope to significantly increase the number of students who take advantage of the captive audience.

"This is a great opportunity for students who are serious about making connections for employment in the field of education because many school districts will be in one place and willing to talk about their specific needs," said Jane Evarian, director of CSUB's Career Development Center. "Students should come prepared to talk about their qualifications and have copies of their resume, transcripts and letters of recommendation in hand."

The fair is a partnership between CSUB's Career Development Center, School of Education and the California Teacher Recruitment Program.
