California State University, Bakersfield is reminding prospective freshmen that they have just two weeks remaining to submit applications for admissions. No California State University campus can accept applications after March 1 for the fall 2009 term.
An application workshop for prospective students will be held at CSUB on Thursday, Feb. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Science III, room 127. Free parking will be available in lot E. CSUB admissions staff will be available to assist with the application process.
"Some high school students wait until the last minute to apply to college," said Steve Watkin, CSUB's director of outreach. "The clock is ticking and we cannot emphasize enough the important of submitting an application to a CSU campus prior to March 1. We don't want any first-time freshmen to miss the opportunity to attend our campus in the fall."
Fully eligible upper division transfer students, international students and non-resident students are exempt from the March 1 deadline.
Many CSU campuses stopped accepting applications when a systemwide impaction was declared in November as a result of the state's severe fiscal crisis. Currently applications are only being accepted at the following CSU campuses: Bakersfield, Dominguez Hills, East Bay, Humboldt, Los Angeles, Monterey Bay, Sacramento, San Bernardino and California Maritime Academy.
Applications may be submitted online at www.csumentor.edu.
