Lawrence Korb, the former assistant secretary of defense under President Ronald Reagan, will be the guest speaker at California State University, Bakersfield's public forum "Strategic Reset: Reclaiming Control of U.S. Security in the Middle East" slated for Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Doré Theatre.
Korb is a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and a senior advisor to the Center for Defense Information. Prior to joining the center, he was director of national security studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. Korb served as assistant secretary of defense from 1981 through 1985 and was awarded the Department of Defense's Medal for Distinguished Public Service. He served on active duty for four years as a naval flight officer and retired from the Naval Reserve with the rank of captain.
