Kristin Leal, a California State University, Bakersfield student, will be recognized as a scholarship recipient on Wednesday, May 14 at the Human Resource Symposium in Santa Clara. Over 500 human resources professionals will attend the event.
Leal is the recipient of a $3,000 Lynn Boone Memorial Scholarship. She is one of eight students in California who will receive this prestigious award.
A human resource management major, Leal will graduate from CSUB in November before pursuing plans to serve in the Peace Corps.
"I want to go to a different country and teach someone else the experiences I've learned, and hopefully someone else can use it," said Leal. She added that the scholarship will help with expenses related to earning her master's degree.
The scholarship is named in honor of Lynn Boone, one of the early members of the Human Resource Symposium steering committee. The scholarships were established by Human Resources, Inc. to support the continued growth and development of both current and prospective human resources professionals. The scholarship is open to qualifying graduate and undergraduate students majoring in human resources or business administration.
