Robert Negrini, California State University, Bakersfield geology professor, has been selected to receive the Distinguished Educator Award by the Pacific Selection American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He will receive the award at the keynote luncheon slated for Monday, March 31 between noon and 1:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select Convention Center in Bakersfield.
The Distinguished Educator Award is given to persons in recognition of their distinguished and outstanding contributions to geological education. Such contributions involve the teaching and counseling of students at the university level.
"This award has gone to faculty from major research institutions including USC, UCLA, and Stanford," said Julio Blanco, dean of CSUB's School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. "We are proud that the hard work of people like Rob puts our geology program in such distinguished company."
Negrini is the second CSUB geology professor to receive this award. Robert Horton was a 1997 recipient.
