The Community Service Cooperative, a California State University, Bakersfield student organization, along with the Associated Students, Inc., will be hosting the inaugural Community Service Awareness Week on Monday, Oct. 27.
"Our mission as an organization is to raise awareness among the CSUB student body of the need for community volunteers; to increase participation through coordination of events, and motivation of students and student organizations," said Mike Butler, student and CSC president.
The Community Service Awareness Week activities are as follows:
Monday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Runner Park
A student awareness and information day that includes free food and service awareness information.
Tuesday, Oct. 28, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Café Quad
Over 20 service organizations will be on campus to meet with students and provide information about volunteer opportunities.
Wednesday, Oct. 29, 11 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 2 p.m., Student Union multipurpose room
Three showings of the film "American Idealist: The Story of Sargent Shriver" will be presented with free refreshments.
