Twenty-three California State University, Bakersfield art students will present their work at the "Existence as Art: Senior Exhibition" in the Todd Madigan Gallery slated for May 24 – June 9.
"They are a particularly creative and unusual group, working in many media including sculpture, paint, ceramics, digital photography and collage," said Michael Johnson, director of the gallery. "The large number of artists will require creative installation in the gallery, beyond the usual linear arrangement. This means more energy, a lot to look at, a wide range of tastes but all mixed together for contrast and unusual relationships."
The exhibiting seniors are Deon Bell, Corky Blain, Andrew Borrego, Amber Brenner, Patricia Burnett-Corrigan, Kenneth Campbell, Alan Ceccarelli, Stephanie Darling, Roberto Escudero, Giovanni Mia Floresta, Arjay Gomez, Miguel Gonzalez, Elva Victoria Gutierrez, Nyoka Jameson, Chris Kwon, Rachel Larsen, Ricardo Limas, Velquiz Ramos, Armando Rubio, Rebecca Schramm, Rebekah Smith, Theresa Tate and Roberto Vargas.
A special opening reception will be held Thursday, May 24, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public and will include food, drinks, and free parking.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 1 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Special gallery hours will be held on Saturday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
