An economics professor at California State University, Bakersfield will provide an inside look at the economics and business of sports at the next Council of 100 meeting at CSUB.
David Berri will be discussing his forthcoming book from Stanford University Press "The Wages of Wins," a book that New York Times baseball writer Alan Schwarz notes "...provides some of the most intelligent yet readable sports analysis I've seen in a long time. Call it 'Freakonomics'
In “The Wages of Wins,” Berri and his co-authors use lively and easy to follow examples, based on the authors’ academic research, to tell the true stories generated by the numbers sports create.
The Council of 100 is a group of area business executives and community leaders who meet quarterly with CSUB officials to learn of the resources the university can provide.
Chamber of Commerce and Kern Economic Development Corp. members are also invited to the meeting.
