California State University, Bakersfield's Anthropology Club and Lambda Alpha, the national honor society for anthropology, present "Forensic Anthropology in a U.S. Military Setting" with guest William Belcher, of the Central Identification Lab at Joint Prisoner Of War /Missing In Action Accounting Command, Thursday, May 25, at 6 p.m. in the Dezember Leadership Center room 402.
In carrying out its mission, the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) has the task of accounting for Americans still missing and unaccounted for from previous wars.
JPAC's approximate numbers are:
- One from the Gulf War
- 1,800 from the Vietnam War
- 120 from the Cold War
- 8,100 from the Korean War
- 78,000 from World War II
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
