An in-depth analysis and discussion on the status, strength, and future of one of America’s most important social programs is scheduled Thursday, Feb. 24, in the Student Union multipurpose room at California State University, Bakersfield.
“Social Security Policy Forum” will feature three panel members discussing the future of Social Security. Those panelists are:
- Michael Moreno, statewide associate director for policy, American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), Sacramento office.
- Steven Daniels, CSUB professor of public policy and administration.
- Jesus Garcia, research coordinator for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools.
The forum is free, and the public is invited.
The panel discussion, scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., is the first of a “Public Policy and Leadership” series of forums sponsored by the Department of Public Policy and Administration in the CSUB School of Business and Public Administration.
“This is one of the most important issues we, as a nation, are facing today,” said Thomas Martinez, chairman of the public policy and administration department. “President Bush has made it a centerpiece of his second term, and it’s an issue that affects all Americans. We hope that the community will come listen to this discussion of a most important issue.”
