An exhibition of master’s degree candidate Mara Schramm’s work is scheduled in the Todd Madigan Gallery at California State University, Bakersfield March 31-April 7.
Schramm expects to receive in June her master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, combining art, communications and marketing. A degree in interdisciplinary studies allows the student to combine two or more disciplines to form a unique major.
Schramm’s artwork will include large pastel works, computer-generated art and video presentations. “It’s the combination of communication and art because the videos and images reflect poems I have written,” she said. “The exhibit is about how art and communications co-exist. Art is a form of communications. Music is direct emotional communications, and art is similar. Where as music appeals to the emotions aurally, art appeals to the emotions visually.”
A closing reception for the artist is scheduled Thursday, April 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the gallery.
The Todd Madigan Gallery is located adjacent to the Dore Theatre on the CSUB campus, and is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m.
For more information, please call the gallery information line at (661) 664-2238. The show is suitable for all ages, and admission is free.
