The phone system at California State University, Bakersfield will be turned off Saturday (Aug. 27) from about 8 a.m. to noon while the system is moved to a new locale as part of the university’s telecommunications infrastructure project.
All phones, faxes, modems, emergency call boxes, and services such as voice mail will not work until power is restored to the phone system.
Also, the university will not be able to receive calls from off campus during the shut down. The contractor, AASTRA Telcom, anticipates having phone service restored by noon Saturday.
