Grammy echoed Collins. "The summit will provide an opportunity to learn how key economic sectors help Kern County create jobs and achieve prosperity. Also, the summit will present perspectives on the strategies of economic development that would benefit the community."
The summit will begin at 7:15 a.m. with registration and a full breakfast, followed at 7:45 a.m. by welcoming remarks from James George, CSUB vice president for academic affairs; and Kern EDC board Chairman Joe Drew.
Grammy will then present his findings, “Kern County: Steadying the State’s Economy, a Report on the State of Kern’s Economy,” at 8 a.m., followed by Jefferds views on “Economic Ordnance: Potential Base Closure Threatens Kern Economy,” at 8:35 a.m.
“Companies capitalize on Opportunity in Kern” will feature the presentations from Lennar, Target and Continental Airlines, beginning at 9:10 a.m.
Voiland will address the summit at 11:10 a.m.
Anyone interested in Kern County's economic development is invited to attend, both Collins and Grammy said. Registration is $40 in advance, or $60 at the door, and includes breakfast and a midday snack.
