February is "Cash for College" month across California and the second annual Cash for College Workshop is scheduled Saturday, Feb. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University Square Building, 2000 K St., in Bakersfield.
The workshop will provide high school seniors and their parents with free professional assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). According to the Cal-Grant guarantee - legislation signed into California law in 2000 - any California senior who meets grade point average, income and asset requirements is eligible to receive money to attend college.
Cal-Grant awards cover the full tuition at the California State University and University of California, or up to $9,708 a year at a private California college or university.
Interested seniors need to complete and submit the FAFSA and Cal-Grant GPA verification forms by March 3. The Kern County College Goal Sunday Planning Committee is hosting the workshop.
