CSUB Art Club presents documentary film "Rivers and Tides"
The California State University, Bakersfield Art Club and Associated Students, Inc. will present žRivers and TidesÓ a fascinating documentary about Scottish artist, Andy Goldsworthy Thursday, May 22 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the CSUB Student Union Multi-Purpose Room.
CSUB art professor and accomplished sculptor, Joyce Kohl said žRiver and TidesÓ is a 90-minute film, which takes viewers on an extraordinary journey into the world and mind of the Scottish sculptor.
žThis is a film not to be missed,Ó Kohl said. žGoldsworthy is a land artist who uses materials from nature to make site-specific works. He allows elements to have the last say in his beautiful creations, as his ingenious patterns of wood, leaves, stone and ice move and erode over time.Ó
German filmmaker Thomas Riedelsheimer followed Goldsworthy to several outdoor locations for more than a year, intimately documenting his improvisational process and capturing the serene spectacle of his works and their delicate changes.
A $2 donation is requested for admission. Proceeds will be applied to an Art Scholarship fund. For more information, contact Kohl at (661) 664-3095.
