CSUB HOSTS OPEN CAMPUS FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
California State University, Bakersfield hosts the 30th annual Open Campus Thursday, Oct. 30, in the Icardo Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The annual event is designed to introduce high school seniors to the academic programs and the variety of student activities at CSUB. Students will get to meet faculty, staff, and students; tour the campus and residence halls; and learn more about financial aid, scholarships, and student services. They can even take advantage of on-site admission.
More than 800 students from 58 high schools throughout the Central Valley have been invited and are expected to attend the event. In addition, 50 high school counselors will take part in the program to learn more about CSUB admission requirements.
Open Campus begins with 8 to 9 a.m. check-in at the Icardo Center, followed by a general session from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the Icardo Center. Campus tours for students begin at 10 a.m., while high school counselors attend an information session in the Business Development Center. Following the campus tours, students will attend an academic and student-services fair that lasts until 1 p.m. in Runner Park, where they will also enjoy lunch and entertainment from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Students who wish to apply for on-the-spot admission to CSUB should complete the CSU application and pay the $55 application fee by check or money order (or submit the CSU Fee Waiver Request Form). Applicants must have earned a minimum 3.0 grade-point average in high school and have completed the CSU college-preparatory course requirements.
