Three international-relations experts will assess the prospects of a war with Iraq during a panel presentation on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Icardo Center on the California State University, Bakersfield campus.

Two political science professors from CSU Northridge will join a CSUB political science professor for the discussion titled "War with Iraq - An Assessment," sponsored by the CSUB political science department and the CSUB Global Affairs Club. The presentation is free, and the public is invited. Light refreshments will be served.

Panel members and their topics are:

Mehran Karava, chair of the political science department at CSU Northridge, who will discuss U.S. policy based on domestic political considerations of the war on terrorism and a concise analysis of Middle East politics.
Long Le, CSUB political science professor, who will discuss redefining U.S. ideological and military interests in a new New World Order.
James A Mitchell, CSU Northridge political science professor, who will discuss the perils and hypocrisy of unilateralism regarding an American invasion of Iraq.

The question of war with Iraq has enormous implications for all Americans, said CSUB President Tomas Arciniega. We hope that area residents will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about this important topic.
