Musica da Camera, California State University, Bakersfield's chamber orchestra, presents "Beethoven Unplugged," an orchestral concert featuring the music of Ludwig Van Beethoven, on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 8 p.m. in the Doré Theater.
The third of the six-concert Musica da Camera 2000-2001 concert season will feature CSUB music faculty member Charles Badami performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major. The orchestra will also perform the Coriolan Overture and Symphony No. 8.
CSUB music professor Gordon Mehling is Musica da Camera's music director and conductor.
"This is the largest program of the season and will feature an orchestra of 40 musicians performing an all Beethoven program," Mehling said. "It's a wonderful opportunity to hear our talented young faculty member Charles Badami, who brings an incredible energy to his performance."
Badami came to CSUB from Tehachapi, graduating in 1997 with a bachelor of arts in music. He then earned a master of music at the University of Oregon before joining the CSUB faculty in fall 2000.
Advance tickets for the Jan. 13 concert are available at Russo's Books in The Marketplace shopping center, and will be available at the door the evening of the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10 general admission, $7 for students and seniors, $3 for children under 10.
