Academic Corporate Circle established at CSUB
Union Bank of California and webBASIS are the first two corporate contributors to California State University, Bakersfield's newly established Academic Corporate Circle.
The Academic Corporate Circle is comprised of companies that recognize the integral link between CSUB and continued prosperity in the community, said Sara Gilbertson, CSUB's director of annual giving.
"They understand that support for the university is more than an avenue of philanthropy," she said. "It's an investment in the economic, cultural and technological future of our region." Companies that participate in the Academic Corporate Circle contribute $2,500 each year to the CSUB Annual Fund.
The recently established venue for annual corporate participation at CSUB is a win-win situation, she said. Annual corporate gifts help augment scholarships and other student programs. In return, "corporate members learn how their support makes a difference through on-campus receptions, cultural events and other activities," Gilbertson said. "Academic Corporate Circle members also receive a distinctive recognition plaque with a series of collector medallions depicting campus buildings."
Union Bank of California, headquartered in San Francisco, has 246 branches throughout California, Oregon and Washington, including four in Bakersfield and one each in Wasco and Delano; webBASIS is an e-services company and global e-business provider headquartered in Bakersfield.
