Visiting professors discuss "Chicano Novel and Criticism" at book signing

Two visiting professors will discuss the "Chicano Novel and Criticism" during a discussion and book signing Friday, March 1, at 5 p.m. in the California State University, Bakersfield Bookstore.

Eliud Martinez, author and professor emeritus of creative writing
at the University of California, Riverside; and Roberto Cantu, literary critic and professor of Chicano Studies at California State University, Los Angeles, will provide insights into Chicano literature during their discussion.

The discussion and book-signing are sponsored by Club Literario Hermes, a literary club for Spanish students at CSUB; and the Runner Bookstore.

Martinez's books include his well-received novel, "Voice-Haunted Journey," "Pocho," "Art of Mariano Azuela," and "Two Norteno Love Stories." He will be available to sign copies of his books, some of which will be on sale at the bookstore.

The public is invited to the discussion, and refreshments will be served. For more information, please call Helia Corral, a professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and faculty advisor to the Club Literario Hermes, at (661) 664-2145, or the bookstore at 661/664-2203.
