Roger Perez has been named director of marketing and public affairs at the Extended University Division of California State University, Bakersfield.
Perez comes to the Extended University from KERO-TV Channel 23 in Bakersfield where he was director of promotion and advertising for the last seven years. He moved to Bakersfield in September 1994 to accept a position at KERO promotion producer.
Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., Perez earned a bachelor of arts degree in rhetoric and communication from the University of Pittsburgh. He began his media career in Pittsburgh where he worked as a promotion assistant at WAMO radio. He then became a producer at PCTV (public access television), and finally a production assistant at WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh.
In his new position at CSUB, Perez will be responsible for marketing the many programs offered by the Extended University Division. "I will also be handling some program development in my new position as the director of marketing and public affairs for the Extended University," he said.
Perez lives in Bakersfield with his wife, Kimberly, who is a kindergarten teacher for the Bakersfield City School District.
