CSUB hosts orientation for new students

California State University, Bakersfield hosts orientation for students who are entering for the first time in fall 2001.

A program for transfer students will be held April 7 in the Dore Theater at 9 a.m. The program is designed for students who are transferring from another institution, especially community colleges. Transfer students who are planning to enter CSUB in fall 2001, but have not yet been admitted, are urged to attend.

A program for freshmen will be held April 28 in the Icardo Center at 9 a.m. The program is designed for first-time freshmen who have been admitted to CSUB in fall 2001. They should notify the Orientation Office, 661/664-3388. There is a $15 fee.

Additional orientation programs are set for May 12, July 7, Aug. 11, and Sept. 7. Academic advising and registering for classes are provided at orientation. Students should attend the earliest possible program to ensure they get the classes they want.

The English Placement Test (EPT) and the Entry Level Mathematics test (ELM) will be offered March 24, April 21, May 5, June 23, July 28, and Sept. 6. There is a $16 fee to take the ELM; there is no charge for the EPT. Students should complete the two tests before taking part in orientation. Students must register to take the exams two weeks in advance of the test date.
