CSUB Celebrates 31st Commencement
California State University, Bakersfield celebrates its 31st Commencement June 15 and 16. More than 1,400 graduates of the class of 2001 will be recognized at four ceremonies scheduled Friday and Saturday.
The School of Education holds the first of four commencement ceremonies Friday in the Icardo Center, 7:30 p.m.
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences will recognize graduates at ceremonies Saturday morning at the Amphitheater, 7:45 a.m.
The School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering will hold its ceremonies Saturday afternoon in the Icardo Center, 1 p.m.
The School of Business and Public Administration will honor graduates Saturday evening in the Icardo Center, 6 p.m.
The schools also recognize honor graduates at separate events leading up to Commencement.
The School of Business and Public Administration hosts its honors dinner Friday, June 8, at the Stockdale Country Club, 6 p.m. · The School of Humanities and Social Sciences hosts brunch Saturday, June 9, in the CSUB cafeteria, 10 a.m.
The School of Education honors graduates Saturday, June 9, in the cafeteria, 4:30 p.m.
The School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering hosts brunch Sunday, June 10, in the Stockdale Room, 10 a.m.
Reserved seating the commencement ceremonies is provided for guests who need a sign language interpreter. Designated seating for guests with disabilities are the wheelchair accessible risers and the cement pads at the Amphitheater. At the Icardo Center an area is designated for people in wheelchairs, and an area is reserved for those who need a sign language interpreter.
During Saturday morning's commencement, the eastern-most row in parking lot B facing Don Hart Drive West is reserved for disabled parking. The northern-most row in parking lot D, north of the Walter Stiern Library facing the Amphitheater also is reserved between the lot's east end and the book drop.
Don Hart Drive West will be open to traffic until the processional starts (around 7:15 a.m.), then closed for 10 to 15 minutes as students assemble along the roadway, and then reopened. During its closure, vehicles entering the west entrance will be directed back to Stockdale Highway to Don Hart Drive East.
The drop off point for people with mobility restrictions is the turnout on Don Hart Drive at the sidewalk. Don Hart Drive will be closed to through traffic prior to the conclusion of the ceremony.
