Zimbabwe explored in professor's lecture
A California State University, Bakersfield history professor will offer a first-hand look at the African nation of Zimbabwe during CSUBs next History Forum on Friday, Nov. 16, at 3:30 p.m. in the Albertson Room of the Dore Theater.
Jim Meriwether, who spent the past academic year as a Fulbright lecturer and researcher at the University of Zimbabwe, will give a talk titled, "Zimbabwe: Today, or What Shall We Do?"
The title of Meriwethers talk is taken from a song by Oliver Mtukudzi, Zimbabwes leading musician. While the song itself focuses on the AIDS devastation in that country, Meriwethers talk will range broadly into Zimbabwes history as well as the current political, economic, and social situation there.
The History Forum talk is free and the public is invited. Refreshments will be served. For more information, please contact the CSUB History Department at 661/664-3079.
