Musica da Camera presents "The Elegant Eighteenth"
Musica da Camera, California State University, Bakersfield's chamber orchestra, presents "The Elegant Eighteenth," an orchestral concert featuring the music of Josef Haydn and Anton Stamitz, on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m. in the Doré Theater.
The 32-member orchestra's featured soloists are two CSUB music majors, Kalene Wrennall and Sarah Hurley, performing the Double Flute Concerto by Stamitz.
The orchestra will perform the overture to "La Fedelta Premiata" and the Surprise Symphony, both by Haydn. CSUB music professor Gordon Mehling is Musica da Camera's music director and conductor.
"This is the kick-off concert of a six-concert series for the academic year," Mehling said. "We will be doing two concerts each quarter. The series consists of two chamber-orchestra concerts, two Baroque concerts, and two evenings of chamber music."
Advance tickets for the Sept. 30 concert are available at Russo's Books in The Marketplace shopping center, and will be available at the door the evening of the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m.
