Two CSUB scholars study abroad

Two California State University, Bakersfield faculty members are Fulbright scholars this year. Joyce Kohl, Art, and James Meriwether, History, won grants to study and work in Zimbabwe.

The pair are among 2,000 scholars and academics in the United States who will travel abroad during the 2000-2001 academic year under the auspices of the Fulbright Program, established in 1946 by legislation introduced by the late U.S. Sen. J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. The program aims to promote understanding between people in the United States and other countries.

Last year, CSUB professors Kamel Haddad, mathematics, and Blanche Mikhail, nursing, won Fulbright scholarships to study and work in Egypt and Jordan respectively.
