CSUB celebrates 30th Commencement
CSUB CELEBRATES 30TH COMMENCEMENT
California State University, Bakersfield holds its 30th Commencement June 9 and 10. More than 1,400 graduates of the Class of 2000 will celebrate at three ceremonies to be held Friday and Saturday.
The School of Education holds the first of three commencement ceremonies Friday in the Icardo Center, 7:30 p.m.
The School of Arts and Sciences will have its ceremonies Saturday at the Amphitheater, 7:45 a.m.
The School of Business and Public Administration ceremony is set for later Saturday in the Icardo Center, 6 p.m.
The School of Education will hear welcoming remarks from Dean Sheryl Santos. Educator and linguist Stephen Krashen from the University of Southern California is set to deliver the commencement address. The school will award 62 bachelor's and 154 master's degrees.
Dean Ray Geigle will open the School of Arts and Sciences ceremony. Keith Devlin, dean of the School of Science at Saint Mary's College of California, will be commencement speaker. Author Kathleen O'Neal Gear, BA, 1977; and Bakersfield physician Frank Ynostroza, BS, 1974, will be honored as outstanding alumni. The school will award 947 bachelor's and 37 master's degrees.
The School of Business and Public Administration will hear opening remarks from interim Dean Ronald Eaves. Bakersfield businessman Greg Bynum will present the commencement address. Sterling Robert Wilson, BS, 1981, will be honored as outstanding alumnus. The school will award 224 bachelor's and 52 master's degrees.
Receptions for graduates, family and friends will follow each ceremony.
