CSUB hosts orientation for new students


California State University, Bakersfield hosts orientation for students who are entering for the first time in fall 2000.

A program for transfer students will be held April 15 at the Dore Theater, 9 a.m. The program is designed for students who are transferring from another institution, especially community colleges. Transfer students who are planning to enter CSUB in fall 2000, but have not yet been admitted, should report at 8:30 a.m.

A program for freshmen will be held April 29 at the Student Union, 8:45 am. The program is designed for first-time freshmen who have been admitted to CSUB in fall 2000. They should notify the Orientation Office, 661/664-3388. There is a $15 fee.

Additional orientation programs are set for May 13, July 8, Aug. 12, and Sept. 8. Academic advising and registering for courses are provided at orientation. Students should attend the earliest possible program to ensure they get the classes they want.

The English Placement Test (EPT) and the Entry Level Mathematics test (ELM) will be offered April 22, May 6, June 24, July 29, and Sept. 7. Students should complete the two tests before taking part in orientation. Students must register to take the exams two weeks in advance of the test date.
