Domestic violence awareness rally scheduled
A Domestic Violence Awareness Rally is scheduled at California State University, Bakersfield on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
The Criminal Justice Club and Associated Students, Inc., at CSUB are co-sponsoring the rally, which will be in the Stockdale Room of the CSUB Cafeteria, said Doris Hall, CSUB criminal justice professor and advisor to the Criminal Justice Club.
From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. two local experts in the field will discuss domestic violence and date rape. From 1:30 to 1:45 p.m., all participants and volunteers will tie purple ribbons on 100 trees on campus "to help bring awareness to this national problem," Hall said.
Hall said that Bakersfield College is holding a similar event that morning. "We hope with this 'double event' we can help to publicize and raise awareness of this problem," she said.
